Delivering Care in Challenging Conditions
Social services centers across Lithuania provide essential home visits to elderly citizens, people with disabilities, and families in need. These visits include daily assistance, household support, accompaniment to medical appointments, medication-related tasks, and guidance on accessing social benefits.
In practice, this work is demanding. Social workers often operate under high workloads, staff shortages, and complex geographic coverage - especially in rural or dispersed areas. Coordinating daily routes, documenting visits, and completing mandatory reports can consume valuable time that would otherwise be spent with people in need.
Public institutions are also required to maintain high service standards, transparent documentation, and accurate reporting for audits, funding, and inter-agency cooperation. Achieving this consistently with manual processes is challenging.
